The cat, ginger, unnamed, has occupied the same section of low brick fence on Wilson Street since Sunday morning, moving only to adjust for the sun.

Residents describe the arrangement as settled. "It was there when I left for work and it was there when I got back," said one neighbour. "Both days. I've started saying hello."

Attempts to determine ownership have been inconclusive. Three separate households believe they feed it. The cat has not clarified.

Asked whether the situation warranted concern, one resident said no, then stood watching the fence for some time before going inside.
