The inspection, conducted on Tuesday by a council officer with a clipboard and no particular urgency, confirmed that the intersection's signals continue to cycle red, then green, then amber, in that order, as they have since installation.
"We looked at them for a while," the officer said. "They did what they were meant to do."
The finding lays to rest a rumour that had circulated among bus stop regulars for the better part of a week, sparked when one commuter suggested the amber phase "felt shorter lately." Timing records show it has not changed since 2011.
Council has indicated it will not be issuing a formal statement, on the grounds that there is nothing to state.
